Council meetings

The council meets on every third Tuesday of the month at 7pm in its meeting room at the front of Willowbed Hall.

All members of the public are very welcome to speak in the democratic half hour held at 7pm and are also very welcome to stay while councillors discuss issues on the formal agendas. Please feel welcome to come in. The only part of the meeting which might be private is when contracts are discussed, and when this happens, it is at the very end of a meeting, if at all.

The town council is consulted by West Dorset District Council on planning applications. Each application is decided by the district council but the town council discusses new applications at its monthly meetings and sends its comments to the district council by set deadlines.

Applications that will be discussed at the next town council meeting will shortly be listed on this website

A formal record of each town council meeting is kept (minutes of the meeting) and are available on this website.
